Victor Caixeta to join Vienna State Ballet

Victor Caixeta will join the Vienna State Ballet (Wiener Staatsballett) for the upcoming 2025-2026 season, he announced in his Instagram post on 12 April 2025, as designated artistic director Alessandra Ferri starts the job.
The Brazilian dancer joined the Dutch National Ballet in 2022 from the Mariinsky Theater in Russia after the war in Ukraine broke out. He left the Dutch National Ballet at the end of the last season in August 2024 and is spending this season as a freelance guest artist.
The announcement followed the similar news from the American Ballet Theater (ABT) that Principal Dancer Cassandra Trenary would leave the company to join the Vienna State Ballet.
Caixeta said, "I’m thrilled to finally share that I’ll be joining the Wiener Staatsballett at the Wiener Staatsoper from the 2025/26 season.
"I’m especially grateful to be starting this next step under the artistic direction of @alessandraferriofficial_and with the guidance of @marcelogomesofficial , their vision and leadership make this move feel not just right, but necessary."
Congratulations! He continued to thank support from everyone throughout his career. He did not mention what rank he would assume with the Vienna State Ballet.
Alessandra Ferri will assume the position of the artistic director of the Vienna State Ballet in September. I am personally not informed if Marcelo Gomes will join the the Austrian company, too, but quite possible given their ABT connection. If it is the case, how exciting!
