It’s the time of the year!
The 53rd Prix de Lausanne International Ballet Competition will take place on 2nd-9th February 2025 at Théâtre de Beaulieu in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The annual Prix de Lausanne competition is a big deal. It is known for being a big springboard for young dancers to achieve their big dreams. This year, 86 aspiring dancers aged between 15 and 18 from 23 countries will participate in the competition to win a prize, which is typically awarded as a scholarship, a position in a prestigious ballet school or an apprenticeship.
Even some of the dancers who did not make it to the Lausanne finals are now dancing with prestigious companies.
You can find this year’s participants’ names here. All past prize winners are listed here. You may be delighted to see some big names.
Jury consists of nine members. The president of the jury is my teenage crush Laurent Hilaire. You can find the names of other members, all big names, here. The artistic team includes Élisabeth Platel, Monique Loudières, Federico Bonelli and others. Big names.
The entire competition, including the Selection rounds and the Finals, will be broadcast on the organiser’s website, its YouTube and other social media channels, and on ARTE’s. The livestreams are free to watch and presented by Cynthia Harvey and Jason Beechey. More big names.
Here is Precious Adams’ performance in the 2014 final. Pleasure to watch!
