Opéra national de Paris once again cancelled the ballet Play on 19th December 2024 due to a strike action, which this time also affected the opera Rigoletto.
“Due to a strike involving some staff at the Paris Opera, the performance of the ballet Play scheduled on 19th December 2024 at 8 pm at the Palais Garnier is unfortunately cancelled,” the Opéra said on its website. It is not clear which members of staff are protesting.
The Opéra has the same message about the cancellation of Rigoletto, which was scheduled at 7:30 pm Paris time on the same day at the Opéra Bastille.
Ticket holders will be refunded. For more details about each cancelled show, click here.
Earlier in December, the first four shows of Paquita and one show of Alexandra Ekman’s Play were cancelled due to dancers’ strike. The shows for both ballets had resumed on 11th December.
For Friday 20th December, Paquita and the sold out Play are scheduled at Opéra Bastille and the Palais Garnier, respectively. The Imperial and royal Danube concert is also scheduled for the same day at the Amphithéâtre Olivier Messiaen.
