New York City Ballet announces 2025-2026 season, Megan Fairchild's farewell show, joiner

New York City Ballet (NYCB) announced its 2025-2026 season on 31 March 2025.
The new season features 47 ballets including 21 works by company founder George Balanchine, six works by co-founder Jerome Robbins, four world premieres and two works new to NYCB’s stages. There are so many of them please allow me to direct you to the company press release here for details.
World premieres will be created by Jamar Roberts, Principal Dancer Tiler Peck, Resident Choreographer Justin Peck and Artist in Residence Alexei Ratmansky.
Other choreographers to be featured in the new season are August Bournonville, Ulysses Dove, William Forsythe, Edwaard Liang, Lar Lubovitch, Peter Martins, Alysa Pires, Gianna Reisen, and Christopher Wheeldon.
Probably, the new season's highlight will be Principal Dancer Megan Fairchild's farewell performance. She will retire from the stage on 24th May 2026 after 25 years with NYCB, dancing the role of Swanilda in Coppélia.
NYCB announced in the same press release that Ryan Tomash, currently a Principal Dancer with the Royal Danish Ballet, will join the company as a Soloist.
