National Ballet of Canada: Jessica Xuan to debut as a guest principal in March

National Ballet of Canada announced Jessica Xuan, Principal Dancer with Dutch National Ballet, will appear for the first time with the company as a Principal Guest Artist in March.


Xuan will perform the role of Odette/Odile in Karen Kain’s Swan Lake, which will run fo 8-12 March 2025, National Ballet of Canada said in a news release on 28th January 2025. The announcement came a few months after an early departure of Jurgita Dronina.


Principal Ben Rudisin will be her Prince Siegfried.


Casting dates and additional castings are yet to be announced.


Originally from Beijing, China, Xuan trained with Canada’s National Ballet School in Toronto and Dutch National Ballet Academy in Amsterdam. She joined the Dutch National Ballet Junior Company in 2013 and has been Principal since 2020. She won a gold medal in the prestigious Varna International Ballet Competition in 2018.
