Jurgita Dronina announces retirement, final performances

International celebrated ballerina Jurgita Dronina announced her retirement from the stage.

Dronina said in her Instagram post dated 8th December, “I am thrilled to announce my farewell performances on the European side.”

“On this stage I saw my very first Ballet - ever, and I did my very first steps as well.

Please come and join me on this very special moment where I will take my last steps on stage as a principal ballerina,” Dronina said.

“From age 10 to age 18 , every year, I was performing on this stage before I left to dance internationally for 20 years… and I am delighted to give my last performance in my hometown, Vilnius, surrounded by family and friends ❤️🌎”

Dronina took a final bow in Canada in late-November, leaving The National Ballet of Canada much earlier than initially announced. She joined the company in 2015 as Principal. She said she was offered an opportunity in Europe.

Congratulations Jurgita! I can’t wait to hear about what her next move is!
