Buy Fonteyn House - for £65 million

Updated: Nov 2

Fancy living like Dame Margo Fonteyn? Go for it. You can now can buy the prima ballerina assoluta‘s former residence.

The residence, located in Knightsbridge, London, was bought by real estate developer Caudwell, which fully renovated it and started marketing it as Fonteyn House in September.

The website does not mention the asking price, but Country & Town House and other luxury magazines say Fonteyn House is marketed for £65 million, or about US$84 million. The price tag makes the mansion one of the most expensive properties hitting the London market in 2024.

Originally built in 1928, the mainsion used to be the Panamanian Embassy and ambassadorial residence, and it used to be called Amberwood House. Margo Fonteyn moved in after marrying the Panamanian politician Roberto Arias in 1955 and lived there until a little after his assassination attempt in 1964.

Rudolf Nureyev lived in the mansion briefly in 1961 while he was negotiating the contract terms with the Royal Ballet. Apparently, the second floor served as the dance studio for the legendary ballet couple.

If you are interested in the 160,000 square foot (1,486 square meter) house with gardens, a private spa in the basement, a movie theatre and whatever other things you can think of, contact Caudwell.
