Alvin Ailey names Alicia Graf Mack as new Artistic Director

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater announced on 21 November 2024 that Alicia Graf Mack has been appointed the new Artistic Director of the company.
Mack will officially become the fourth artistic director of the company on 1st July 2025, following Alvin Ailey, Judith Jamison, who passed away earlier this month, and Robert Battle. Matthew Rushing has been Interim Artistic Director since Battle stepped down in 2023.
“Ms. Graf Mack was brought into Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater by Judith Jamison and danced under the leadership of Ms. Jamison and Robert Battle from 2005 to 2008 and from 2011 to 2014,” the company said in the statement.
Mack has been serving as Dean and Director of the Dance Division of The Juilliard School since 2018.
Mack also earned an undergraduate degree from Columbia University and a graduate degree from Washington University.
